7th Grade7th Graders will be exploring a whole bunch of art forms focusing around art as a process. 7th graders will look into how exploring one idea through one art form can lead to deeper explorations of that one idea through different art forms and how that idea can evolve into new ideas.
7th graders will explore this idea through: -Large, abstract, gestural drawings in charcoal -Inventing, creating and using our own drawing tools -Finding inspiration in our drawings to fuel designs for a building project -Sculpture in plaster / paste, armature wire and cardboard to create a building -Talk about architecture, public buildings, public art, memorials, installation, aesthetics, and more -Using ideas from the buildings to create monoprints and talk about blueprints and series |
8th Grade8th graders will be exploring creating art as a vehicle for expression. They will learn about artist JR, who will come up a lot during art this year, a street artist from Paris who is changing the world through his public art.
Learn more about JR by watching his amazing TED talk here. 8th grade students will step into JR's shoes, come up with their own message and then come up with their own photo series to depict that message. Through this project, students will get a brief introduction into digital photography and digital arts and media. Students will explore ideas of composition, mood, message, color, contrast and more through mixed media studies. |
