8th graders are working on a really fun painting project this term, it is called Renaissance Remix. We wanted to connect what the 8th graders are doing in art with what they are doing in their other classes, which is learning about Renaissance Art! So, what we have decided to do is have our 8th graders choose a renaissance painting to remix or change in some way to make it new and give it some of their own style, without changing it so much that you can't recognize the painting anymore. We looked at some examples on our pinterest board and then students began looking at renaissance art online until they chose one to work on.
Today they began sketching out their ideas on their final draft paper, so we will be painting soon!!
WHAT ARE THE 8TH GRADERS CURRENTLY WORKING ON?!
One of my favorite projects so far...the Big/Little project. For this project we are doing a cross-community project! We have had kindergartner students from a few of the elementary schools draw pictures of creatures, beasts, animals and more! Next, we had the 8th graders choose one of the drawings to transform into a 3D sculpture and bring the drawing to life! 8th graders learned about several different types of sculptural forms - using paper mache, relief sculpture, working with wire to build forms, sewing stuffed animals and more! The results are amazing and some of the finished products are so incredible! Check out some of the finished sculptures so far!!
